Below I will outline the key points of waxing,
Choose the Right Salon or Technician: Do some research to find a reputable salon or esthetician with good reviews. A professional with experience will ensure a more comfortable and effective waxing experience.
I hold the relevant waxing qualifications and have been waxing for over 15 years with specialising in Lycon hot wax for intimate areas.
Hair Length Matters: Make sure your hair is long enough, about a quarter of an inch, for the wax to grip effectively. This usually means waiting a few weeks between shaving and waxing.
Bare in mind hot wax can remove even the smallest hair as little as 1mm, this is ideal for facial and underarm hair removal.
Pre-Waxing Skin Care: Exfoliate gently a day or two before your appointment to remove dead skin cells and help prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid applying lotions or oils on the day of your waxing.
If you do happen to have products on your skin when you visit, don’t worry as we will be cleansing the area prior to starting the treatment.
Pain Management: If you're concerned about discomfort, consider taking a mild pain reliever about 30 minutes before your appointment.
A paracetamol is more than enough if you have a lower pain threshold, a lot of my clients come in feeling nervous and leave saying that it wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be, this is due to my techniques and my experience within the waxing treatments.
Post-Wax Care: After waxing, your skin may be sensitive. Apply a soothing lotion or aloe vera gel to calm the area and avoid hot showers, saunas, or sun exposure for 24 hours.
You will receive aftercare advice on the day depending what treatments you have had, along with you will receive an aftercare form sent direct to your email so you’ve it to refer back to.
Communicate with Your Technician: Don't hesitate to ask questions or express any concerns you have. A good technician will be happy to guide you through the process and make adjustments to suit your comfort level.
Ask away - Honestly you won’t be the first to ask and you won’t be the last, don’t be embarrassed about anything, we are both ladies and I’m happy to discuss any questions you may have in regard to waxing removal, waxing on periods etc.
Frequency of Waxing: To maintain smooth skin, schedule regular appointments every 4-6 weeks. Over time, waxing can lead to finer and sparser hair growth.
Remember, everyone's skin is different, so it's important to listen to your body and take care of your skin before and after your waxing session. Enjoy your smooth skin!
On your initial appointment we will discuss your next appointment and how long you would be looking at between appointments, as your hair becomes finer I will then advise you if your able to go longer between appointments as some times this can then be extended for another two weeks.
Waxing is one of my favourite treatments to do, So if you are wanting to get into a waxing routine then book your waxing appointment today with me. You will be glad you’ve put down the razors.
